The Dirty Old Man is a dual JFET op amp based distortion with cascading clipping stages that break up at different points, allowing for smooth, uniquely textured drive sounds throughout the sweep of the drive (Filth) control - from mild to wild! At lower Filth settings, the pedal adds just enough texture to sound like a tube amp on the verge of breaking up. The real gem in lower settings is how it makes your pickups come to life, accentuating every nuance of your playing style. As you increase the Filth control, you hear the effect of the second clipping stage kicking in. We're talking smooth drive with sustain for days. As you near max on the Filth control, the distortion is thick and aggressive, however note definition is retained, making even complex chords ring out as beautifully as they would with a clean signal.
